When choosing a vehicle for your family, we know that safety is one of your top priorities. That being said, we have great news for western Montana drivers — Honda has added new safety technology to the new 2019 Pilot that is widely available across all trim levels!
In addition to safety updates, the popular three-row SUV also has an improved transmission, a new infotainment system, and an updated design. This popular SUV has just gotten even better.
Missoula drivers, if you're looking for a Honda for sale in western Montana, learn more about the new Pilot!
New Safety Features in 2019 Honda Pilot
Let's talk about one of Honda's best features: Honda Sensing®. The exclusive safety suite has been keeping thousands of drivers and pedestrians safe for years — and it's only getting better.
Prior to this model year, Honda Sensing® was available only on the Touring and Elite trims of the Honda Pilot. With the 2019 updates, it is now standard on all Honda Pilot trims!
As a reminder, the standard Honda Sensing® suite includes:
- Forward Collision Warning with Collision Mitigation Braking — applies brake pressure when an unavoidable collision is determined
- Road Departure Mitigation — adjusts steering and braking if you cross detected lanes without signaling
- Lane Keep Assist — adjusts steering to help you keep centered in the lane
- Adaptive Cruise Control — maintains a set following interval behind detected vehicles
- Traffic Sign Recognition — notifies you of posted speed limits with the use of a small camera
How's that for peace of mind?
Transmission Updates to the 2019 Honda Pilot
Always seeking to improve, Honda listened to driver feedback and updated the nine-speed transmission to improve acceleration and shifting response time in the 2019 Pilot Touring and Elite models.
Updated models house a nine-speed gearbox with changes to the hardware and software, as well as an updated clutch and hydraulics to improve shifting speed and consistency. So, how's that translate to your driving experience?
If you're moving from a past Honda Pilot model to one with the 2019 transmission update, you'll notice a smoother, faster response time when shifting, and a lower frequency in how often the SUV needs to shift. That means better performance, better gas mileage, and a smoother ride.
Also, Honda updated the start-stop system, so the engine now starts more swiftly.
All Honda Pilot models have the same 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The LX, EX, and EX-L trims have a six-speed automatic transmission, while Touring and Elite drivers will experience the upgraded nine-speed.
Updated Technology in the 2019 Honda Pilot
One of the most exciting interior upgrades to this family-favorite SUV is the multimedia system change. Have you ever settled in behind the wheel of a 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan and cranked up the volume knob while listening to your favorite tunes?
The 2019 Honda Pilot houses the same system, which many drivers love. (Yep, you read that right — the tactile volume knob is back!) You'll enjoy this new 8-inch touchscreen on all Pilot trims above the LX, including minor menu structure changes for easier accessibility.
Is It Right For Your Family?
Can you imagine a world in which you don't need to (dangerously) turn around in your seat while driving to tell your kids in the back to stop arguing?
That's what the CabinTalk™ microphone system is for. Plus, with seating flexibility and spacious cabin storage — in addition to the aforementioned safety features — Missoula families are loving this SUV.
